Organic Targets Bill
The government is coming under increasing pressure to increase organic farming. An alliance of 100 environmental groups and trade unions have launched an Organic Food and Farming Targets Bill in Parliament. It aims to ensure that at least 30% of UK farmland and 20% of our food is organic by 2010. So far it has won the support of 140 MPs.

Organics boom
Food safety scares and media interest are fuelling the boom in organics. During the past 3 years 80 farmer’s markets have been set up and more than 200 box schemes now serve 100,000 regular customers. Yet 70% of organic food sold in Britain is imported.
