Out of this World

Members Council:

The Member's Council continues to meet 3 times a year and at the AGM. To maintain a dialogue with the Board, a Council member now attends part of each Board meeting, and the same arrangement applies in reverse. Free from the responsibility of actually running the business the Council has time to explore new ideas and feed in the views of members.

Role of the Members' Council

  • Convey members' views, ideas and concerns to the Board.
  • Provide an avenue through which the Board can be questioned about anything which deviates from the original principles and aims of OOTW's formation.
  • Submit policy proposals arising from Members' Council and the wider membership leading to motions at the AGM.
  • Foster involvement of the wider membership.

These roles would be carried out as follows

  • By providing details of the Members' Council role in members' mailings and making the Members' Council names and contact details available in members' mailings, on the website, at the shops and from head office.
  • The Members' Council and the Board should have regular meetings and all Council and Board members should be able to consult with each other.
  • There should be some reciprocal arrangement of reporting to Board and Council meetings.
